Originally by: Mud Pandemonium Those who would bash other players for demanding higher quality of service from CCP do a great disservice to themselves and their fellow consumers.
"With a clever combination of hardware and proprietary software, the EVE backend has been constructed and refined based on CCPÆs years of experience of operating virtual worlds. This powerful combination allows CCP to operate the server clusters at lower cost than most other games with lower hardware investment and less bandwidth charges."

Your lower cost, low investment, low bandwidth approach does not work. You have to be blind to have not seen this by now. The savings are not being passed on to the consumer because the quality of service is so lacking. We're not getting our moneys worth when it comes to server performance. All you've done is widen your profit margins.
This issue does not just stem from a crash such as this.. which is bothersome, however it is nothing when compared to massive desynchs and PVP fleet lag.
If Crowd Control Productions considers themselves to be truly transparent I would like to see some hard data when it comes to revenue and spending.
I can appreciate that running a company is a costly affair, however if I was to learn CCP was raking in a tidy sum and still using this asinine approach to server management I would be one incredibly peeved consumer.
Your idea of doing more with less does not work. You are doing nothing but preying upon the people who have a slight or more than slight addiction to EVE Online. Knowing full well that you can continue to charge them a monthly fee even if the service is horrible.
"The graphics engine in EVE Online is capable of doing photo realistic rendering in real-time of surfaces such as rusty steel, dirty glass, oxidized aluminium and volumetric fire and smoke, as well as environmental effects such as asteroids impacting on a planet's surface, massive nebulas and the aurora borealis. The Eve engine is built on DirectX9 and utilizes the latest graphics and hardware technology."
By CCP's own admittance the server technology and the EVE Online graphics engine are horribly flawed (Hilmar Petursson mentioned this in one of those Live Devblog things I believe.)
CCP, you market yourselves as innovative. While this at one time may have been true time has shown that some innovations just do not work, that you cannot improve upon the wheel as it were.
CCP is also very, very, very underhanded when it comes to their marketing strategies. Your trailers continually show massive PVP fleet engagements. While I understand that trailers are never anything like actual gameplay it's absolutely ignorant of you to think that this is an ethical business practice considering that fleet warfare is broken.
Tell your GM's to start giving players the benefit of the doubt, if a ship is lost in PVP and you see that at the time there was 500 players in the system, reimburse it. Don't tell them that you have no way of verifying that they're telling you the truth when you desynch.
It's been said that GMs have no idea of what is going on within EVE, seeing things like a GM asking in local how to change a station name sort of solidifies that claim.
Does any of this matter to CCP? Probably not, they'll still get my money every month because theres no alternative to EVE.
Cough cough....QFT...
